FTP Manager Lite serves multiple purposes and all of them involve managing files. As the name suggests, you can use it to connect to FTP serves and to manage their contents. What's more, the software can move files between two local folders, but more importantly, it can establish connections between two different FTP servers. The best part is that it has a straightforward and intuitive design, making it quite easy to manage the contents of one or more FTP servers.

The software is free, but it comes in a paid version as well. It works on Windows XP and all later versions, up to Windows 8, including the 2008 and 2012 Server editions. Installing the program is a quick operation. There is no need to prepare any prerequisite tools or drivers.

FTP Manager Lite allows you to establish several connections at the same time and you can also save their settings as connection profiles. Saved profiles can be selected in a column, on the left side of the user interface and you can view basic information about them, as well as options for opening or editing them, in the larger area on the right.

Creating a new profile involves filling in a series of input fields. When it comes to local folders, selecting one with a standard browsing option is all you need to do. If you wish to establish a connection to a FTP server, you must specify its address, a username and a password, if necessary, as well as optional parameters, like the used protocol, a port number and so on.

Once a connection has been established, you can view the contents of your local folder or FTP server, depending on what kind of profile you have created, side by side, on separate panels. Data can be transferred from one side to the other by clicking the corresponding arrows, between the panels, or by simply clicking and dragging the files or folders.

Pros

The software is capable of establishing connections between different FTP servers, as well as traditional "local to remote" connections. It allows you to create connection profiles, which is a simple operation.

Cons

You can't open a "FTP to FTP" connection with the free version. Managing data between local folders and FTP servers can be significantly easier with FTP Manager Lite.
